Our history

The LHS Blue Belles Dance Team was established in 1973 by Mrs. Sharon Mascheck. They are a dance team composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors who boost school spirit in every event in which they participate. The Blue Belles perform at half-time of football games, basketball games, pep rallies, parades, and community events. They end the 10-month season with their Spring Show, which is a culmination of all their hard work during the year put into one show. This special event sells out every year! They are extremely proud to be a part of Leander High School and the Leander, Texas Community.

In 2009, the Blue Belles established a non-varsity performance company - The Sapphires Performance Company. Sapphires is designed specifically for dancers who want to experience the full spectrum of participation with a minimal outside time commitment with lots of performance opportunities.

The Blue Belles consider themselves Leander Independent School District Goodwill Ambassadors. Every year they raise thousands of dollars at their annual Gift of Love Clinic and donate it to a student or teacher in the district who is in need of financial assistance when faced with a serious medical illness. They also host other dance clinics and dance camps throughout the year to promote dance and physical fitness within our district, including “Blue Belle for a Day,” where the Blue Belles visit the ICAP programs around the district for a fun day of dance.

Auditions for Blue Belles & Sapphires Performance Co. are held in December for the following school year. All students are encouraged to tryout.
